All optometrists at Watson and Smith are qualified and registered with the General Optical Council (GOC). We provide NHS examinations for all eligible patients and private examinations for those not entitled to an NHS examination. We use the latest technology including Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) scans and widefield imaging and are included in our private examinations. These extra tests are available to NHS patients for additional fees, these fees can be found below.
OCT retinal scanning
Detailed cross-sectional images of your macula and optic nerve.
Ultra wide field (UWF) photos
A wider view of the back of your eye allowing up to 220 degrees of the retina to be seen
Digital photography
High resolution images allowing us to monitor change over time, included in a NHS funded eye exam
Visual fields
Measurement of the peripheral vision,
useful in looking for conditions such as glaucoma.
